Floating Shelves

Floating shelves in solid wood, from narrow hallway runs to kitchen depths. Shelf depth follows the deepest thing you will put on it, not the size of the wall. Most rooms want 6 to 10 inches. Kitchens want 11 to 12, because dinner plates stack about 11 inches across. Bathrooms and hallways want less, often 4 to 8.

Deeper is actively worse in a corridor, where a shelf that catches your shoulder gets noticed every day. Every shelf is made to order, so the depth and length can be set to the wall rather than chosen from a fixed range.
